With the pandemic winding down, Congregation Ezra Bessaroth, the Rhodesli synagogue of Seattle, has been leading the return to in-person services with a renewed focus on holiday programs, upgraded kiddushim, and an energetic Shabbat morning program for children. For Hanukkah, EB was the talk of the town after hosting a Greek band alongside a brisket dinner and wine bar. Our new, energized board and members had no choice but to top that with a Purim party featuring a live, six-piece Salsa band, a taco bar, and a magic show.
Our esteemed Rabbi Benzaquen read Megillah like the pro that he is. And a recent Shabbat morning "Moms and Mimosas'' program welcomed women from around the community who enjoyed a relaxing morning of conversation over pastries and sparkling wine. We have had the blessing of bar mitzvahs, marriages, and new babies, and young families are both joining and returning to their home synagogue, bringing the next generation of babies with them.
Si Kere El Dio, we have many more exciting programs coming up this spring and summer, including the production of the play Arrivals: A Seattle Love Story, a Sephardic-Ashkenazi tale produced by the Seattle Jewish Theater Company and the Washington State Jewish Historical Society. Additionally, we are proudly welcoming a new Haham to our community this summer, Rabbi David Benchlouch, who will be a wonderful addition to our Kehila as an outgoing, dynamic, and warm spiritual leader with an in-depth knowledge of our Rhodesli traditions.
